Zimbabwe: Govt forges ahead with ‘Zim is open for business’ mantra

ZIMBABWE says it remains committed to the engagement and re-engagement agenda affirming that Zimbabwe is a friend to all and enemy to none.
This Thursday Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Ambassador Frederick Shava held a virtual meeting with heads of the diplomatic missions, where he updated them on the strides his ministry has made in promoting cooperation and strengthening relations with the international community.


“You may be aware that I recently paid visits to a number of European capitals, in line with our engagement, re engagement and re affirmation agenda. Apart from advancing bilateral ties , I was also promoting the vast investment and trade opportunities across all sectors of Zimbabwe’s economy in line with the Zimbabwe is open for business mantra,” said the foreign missions minister.


Ambassador Shava also updated the diplomats on President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s recent visit to Scotland.
“ His excellency the President underscored Zimbabwe’s readiness to corporate with the international community in addressing the impacts of climate change . He also called on developed countries and major emitters to honor their commitments via a vis availing finance for climate action and reducing emissions,” he added.


The diplomats were also briefed on the country’s move to endorse the declaration on forests and land use in which more than 141 member states pledged to end deforestation by 2030.
The declaration is backed by 19.2 billion United States dollars in national and private funds to support forest protection efforts.
