The Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ- has thanked Zambians for the confidence they have shown in the commission as it works towards conducting a free, fair, and credible General Election on August 12.

ECZ Commissioner Ali Simwinga says the commission understands the task that is before it and that it will perform to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.

Simwinga said this on Saturday at a media briefing in Dubai, United Arab Emirates where printing of ballot papers for the fourth-coming General Election is taking place.

He said ECZ understands that elections are an emotive process and that the commission will ensure that it meets the expectations of all stakeholders.

At the same briefing, ECZ Senior Corporate Affairs Officer, Sylvia Bwalya said overall printing of ballot papers in all election types now stands at 91-percent.

She said printing of ballots for Mayoral and Council Chairpersons stands at 97- percent, while printing of ballots for the National Assembly stands at 90-percent while ballots for Local Government is standing at 76-percent.
